Do people still take a country drive to abandon their pets? Apparently they do, and many find their way to country homes like Susan Clark's. In this article, Susan said there are two ways abandoned pets find her home: one is abandonment on a country road, and the other are city friends who believe she can take "just one more" when their own lives can't handle it any longer.

I figure that humans take on a sort of contract with a pet; we take responsibility for finding a home for it if, for some really good reason, we can't continue to care for it ourselves. That would mean that dumping the apple of your eye on a country road would never enter your mind.
