English purebreds a dying breed?

You've probably heard of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Irish Setter, but how about the Dandie Dinmont Terrier or the Irish Water Spaniel? These are all English purebreds and the worry is that they will become extinct with the wild popularity of "celebrity dogs" like Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers taking the lead as most popular dogs.

The full article provides some beautiful pictures of eight breeds believed to be in danger of dying out. The are: Greyhound, Clumber Spaniel, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Gordon Setter, Irish Water Spaniel, Irish Setter, and Kerry Blue Terrier.
