Here's an update on Hope, a Cocker Spaniel who had been brutally abused and close to being euthanized when the Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers took her under their loving care. She was transported to Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic
where she underwent surgery a week ago. You can tell by her picture
that she's been through a lot, but she is a beautiful dog that once
recuperated will be able to go to a forever home.
Here's the full letter sent this morning. If you would like to make a year-end contribution to a very worthy organization, SIAR seems to be one well worth your thoughts. Note that in this day of email scams, we did a check for authenticity of the story and were satisfied to make a donation ourselves.
To all the “Angels of Hope”,First, thanks for all your email's and the support regarding our sweet Hope and your sweet Hope. We can't tell you what hope and inspiration your support means to us. You are all “Angels of Hope”.
So tomorrow will be 1 week since she had the surgery and she’s doing pretty well. She moved from her first foster the nurses house who lived close by the Vet hospital into another foster home who will keep her until she is fully recovered and gets adopted. This second foster is a Vet Tech from Sylvan Corners another vet hospital we use in Citrus Heights. She had a drain tube removed on Saturday. Hope was in considerable pain not only from the surgery but the ear infections as well. She languished for a while but after a couple days started coming around and feeling better. I'm sure the meds had some effect on her as well. Both foster Mom’s said she is the sweetest girl (we knew that) and could even see her being a therapy dog.
Here are the latest pictures so you can see for yourself what she looks like now. They had to shave her ears and other parts but it will grow back. We have someone, Cathy Ramsey who emailed us offering a free grooming that will definitely be needed before she goes up for adoption. Thank you Cathy!
Again, we can't thank you enough for all the support and your generosity. We had email's and donations from all over the country – even as far away as New York! So please pass this around in case I missed anyone you emailed that would want to know about Hope’s progress.
