In South Korea, veterinarians are seeing more of their patients abandoned as their owners do not retrieve them because they are unable to pay their bills. One vet has had to send four pets, one cat and three dogs, to the local shelter because he didn't have room in his hospital to keep them any longer.
"Even humans are finding it hard to foot medical bills these days, so it's not surprising to see people surrender their sick pets," he was quoted as saying.
Shelters in the area report an influx of 100 pets brought in the month of September as compared to the same time last year.
