When Jon Decker was bit by Barney outside the Whitehouse last week he was one of a staggering 4.7 million people that are bitten by dogs each year. Fortunately he was not one of the 1,000 that head to the emergency room each day because of a serious dog bite.
Stephanie Calmenson has collaborated with "Harry" a long hair daschund, to write a book to try and bring those numbers down. The book, full of helpful advice for adults as well as children, clearly explains safe ways of meeting and greeting canines.
