
Check your local listings for National Geographic's Dog Town, which
tonight will focus its two hour season premiere on "Saving the Michael
Vick Dogs." This episode has gotten rave reviews from television
critics for the compelling way it tells the story of these former
fighting dogs. Instead of showing graphic violence, it shows the
histories of the dogs by piecing together their behavior patterns and
the scars from their physical abuse.
Dogtown is a branch of Best Friends Animal Society, and it was Best Friends that convinced a judge to allow them to rehabilitate 22 of the most troubled dogs from Vick's property. Michael Vick continues to serve a 23 month sentence for harboring a dog fighting operation, Bad Newz Kennels, on his Virginia property.
